Week 4 of the High School Football Season. We have are constants with some teams and others have surprised us. Malden is still dominating their opponents and really hasn’t missed a beat from their break-out season a year ago. Poplar Bluff and Sikeston have both been playing better than expected. Other teams like Jackson and Cape Central have taken a minor step back so far this season.
Here is my TOP TEN FOOTBALL TEAMS in our listening area. (Keep in mind I am taking teams basically from Perryville to Kennett).
Week 4 Top-Ten Football Teams
- Cape Central
- Poplar Bluff
- East Prairie
- Scott City
Portageville and Dexter could find a way back in the Top Ten with a few good wins. Sikeston defeated the 10th ranked team in Class 4 Cape Central (at the time) last week. So until someone can beat them I think you have to put them at the top. Jackson moves down to three because they have yet to win a game this year. You look at their competition they have played so far and it has been tough. I think they will get better as the year goes on. Malden is playing really well. Solid opponents in Scott City and East Prairie are coming up for them. Maybe they could move up? Poplar Bluff is playing Cape Central this week and could move on up with a good win there. Kennett and Perryville have been steady. East Prairie is another team that has jumped into the standings after good wins against Scott City and Grandview. Caruthersville is winless but they lost only by a point to state ranked Malden and solid Kennett. They will bounce back. Scott City had two blow-out wins to open the season and lost in overtime to East Prairie in week 3. The Rams have talent but interesting to see how they are able to compete against Malden this week.
